Auckland and Yorkshire emerge victorious in the Champions League T20 qualifiers

Champions League T20 2012 schedule is ready for the league matches despite two qualifiers still scheduled to happen. Auckland and Yorkshire qualified for the main draw by winning both their matches in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League T20. The group matches are scheduled to bring live action from October 13 after the conclusion of opening ceremony in South Africa.

Yorkshire qualify for Group A while Auckland qualifies for Group B. The two teams will compete with domestic T20 talent from around the world in the group stages of Champions League T20. Auckland defeated Hampshire in its second consecutive game while Yorkshire gained victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the qualifiers of T20 Champions League.

Commenting on the inclusion of four Indian teams, Jacques Faul, Cricket South Africa’s acting chief executive said, “The commercial success of the tournament relies on the Indian market, so it makes a lot of sense to have a lot of Indian teams in there. Although the IPL is based in India, it has become a true international tournament.”

The Indian Premier League (IPL) teams are the main draw in the Champions League T20 as they fight for world supremacy in the T20 arena. The Indian teams featuring in the Champions League T20 schedule are Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. Mumbai Indians have won the previous edition of the Champions League.

The two qualifying matches to be played today will not have any bearing on the draws of the main tournament. Champions League T20 is ready to take the T20 entertainment to a new height.
