England’s Alex Hales fires, defeat West Indies in T20

Alex Hales

Alex Hales .. stormed England to victory !

England sealed an impressive victory over West Indies in a Twenty20 game with a storming 99 runs from Alex Hales.

The Englishman came storming and hit the ball all over the ground at Trent Bridge as the fans cheered him aloud. He scored 99 runs from just 68 balls and missed out his first T20 century by one run when he was bowled out by Rampaul on the last ball of the 19th over.

Though master blaster and T20 specialist Kevin Pietersen was not playing, Alex did not make his absence felt with thundering shots crossing the boundary line every over. The 23-year old Nottinghamshire opener played his part in the second innings of the match and got his team four runs closer to victory before getting out.

England chased down their highest target in T20s, and Morgan hit the winning runs to complete the 173 run target with poise. Hales has showed some class and is slowly filling out the void left by Pietersen, who has retired from international limited overs cricket.

Hales will make a great opener for the series against Sri Lanka in September. Captain Stuart Broad got his special 26h birthday present with Hales sealing the victory to make it memorable and was all praises for the young star, “The way Alex batted was absolutely fantastic. He was distraught not to get 100 and the 20-odd thousand in Trent Bridge would have felt the same.”

Although Dwayne Smith and Dwayne Bravo hit half centuries for Windies, Bopara and Hales lead England to a much-deserved victory.

I love him a lot !! He is one of the most charming cricketers in the team.. I just love the way he smiles … Peitersen is old and out, Hales is the new poster boy of English cricket … He has got class and will surely go a long way in the team !!
