India vs Pakistan: Live action begins from Christmas
India vs Pakistan cricket matches are due to begin shortly with the two sub-continent rivals planning to keep things professional between them. The tour begins in Bangalore with Pakistan taking on India for the first of the two T20 international matches. Pakistan has announced its squad for the series while India plans to name the squad on December 23.
The move of the Indian cricket board (BCCI) has been supported by many players while some have also expressed their discomfort for the possibility of the series. India and Pakistan have been at loggerheads due to differences between the countries’ political stance.
Pakistan dropped Shahid Afridi from the squad, but are now looking to bring back the maverick all-rounder after his good performance in the practice matches. Talking about Afridi’s form, Pakistan ODI captain, Misbah-ul-Haq said, “If his form remains like this and we need him, we will definitely consider him. The form of senior players, who are experienced enough, is very important. They are seniors, whenever you give performances like this it will be good for Pakistan.”
Here is the schedule of the India-Pakistan series:
|12/25/12||India v Pakistan 1st T20I|
|12/28/12||India v Pakistan 2nd T20I|
|12/30/12||India v Pakistan 1st ODI|
|01/03/13||India v Pakistan 2nd ODI|
|01/06/13||India v Pakistan 3rd ODI|
India will be facing a tight-schedule as they are currently playing England. Pakistan will arrive in India on December 22 and play the first T20 on December 25 at Bangalore followed by another T20 and three ODI matches. India has lost the test series to England and would be looking to build some momentum in the T20 series against England, which begins today.
India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since end-2007, though the two subcontinent rivals have faced each other in international tournaments. With India opening the doors for Pakistan, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is looking to return the favour by planning to host India in August 2013.
