With less than a week left for the ICC T20 World Cup, it seems that the event is expected to break records as it is set to reach an audience of approximately 1.5 billion worldwide – the highest for any ICC event to date. The host broadcasters for the game are ESPN Star Sports (ESS).
Meanwhile, Australia’s test captain Michael Clarke has stated that their team is ready to win the World Cup in spite of them being ranked 9th in the world. With such startling statements coming from the Australian captain, lets hope that they can live up to it.
The Indian cricket squad has been ordered to wear the same jersey design that they had worn in World Cup 2007 in a bid to bring them good luck. The T-shirt design had been unveiled by Nike earlier this month
The ICC has officially launched the time table of the T20 World Cup with 12 official teams and 2 qualifiers (Ireland and Afghanistan). Meanwhile, Captain of one the most promising team of the cup New Zealand, Ross Taylor said that his team would have to combat some top class players in the group stages of upcoming World T20 in Sri Lanka.
Taylor at the present moment is in no mood to look far ahead as he has been placed in a dicey group D along with two subcontinental teams in the event, scheduled to be held from September 18 to October 7.
Coming to South Africa, Proteas Captain AB de Villiers said his side’s seven wicket win over reigning champions England was an encouraging sign ahead of this month’s World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.
