World Twenty20 2012 live: Semi-finals beckon as cricket fever reaches new heights

T20 World Cup 2012 has reached the crowning moments of the tournament with the semi-finals encroaching to decided who takes the coveted prize home. World Twenty20 2012 has seen some fine moments before the semi-finals with teams striving to leave their name on the World T20 trophy. The T20 World Cup has been through two super overs, teams winning the game but not entering the semi-final stage and some close encounters.

The four teams which qualify for the semi-final stage of World Twenty20 are Australia and Pakistan from Group 2, Sri Lanka and West Indies from Group 1. Pakistan showed its finesse in the spin department by defeating Australia to place their bid for a berth in the semi-final stage of the T20 World Cup.

From Group 1, hosts Sri Lanka take the semi-finals by storm after winning all their super 8 encounters.

The Lankan side is cast as the favourite to win the T20 World Cup 2012. West Indies also qualified for the semi-finals by virtue of their performance in the super over against New Zealand. West Indies remain to be the constant surprise in this World Twenty20 tournament with every member of the team performing to their potential.

The semi-finals of the T20 World cup begin tomorrow as Pakistan faces Sri Lanka and Australia take on West Indies on October 5. With the top four teams playing each other in the semi-finals, this edition of the World T20 is marked for some nerve-wrecking finishes and a classic display of cricketing skills.
