England v Brazil Match Preview & Betting Predictions
England v Brazil match preview
Roy Hodgson will be in desperate need to silence critics and avoid a repeat of his side’s shock defeat to Sweden when Brazil roll up at Wembley on Wednesday evening. The England manager is sweating on the fitness of several key players, namely Sturridge and Carrick; Defoe is a definite absentee after coming off early at the weekend. Rooney, Gerrard and Cahill will form the spine of a signature Hogson 4-4-2 with Hart retaining his spot between the sticks. The Manchester City goalkeeper is expected to have his hands full if Brazil deploys the usual heavy hitters.
Brazil manager Menezes has ushered the team back to winning ways and will be expecting to add another notch to his belt by fielding an experienced side. Some players fans will already know of from their time in the Premiership – Oscar and Ramires will add flavour to the attacking line. Golden boy Neymar is set to start up front and will pose a clear threat to the England defence; the striker is among the bookies favourites to get on the score sheet first.
England v Brazil betting prediction
A home advantage is usually enough to give England the nod although in this case, against a Brazil side are accustomed to playing in Europe the odds for a win are considerably less attractive. Both teams to score is a likely outcome with Brazil striking first, owing to the attacking strength of their team selection. Chances of England grinding out a win to nil are a long shot for good reason, but then again stranger things have happened in football.
