Arsenal FC – Latest news, gossip and transfer news roundup
Lots of gossip surrounding the Arsenal camp this morning, we start with news of a young transfer target in the same mould as Theo Walcott and Alex Chamberlain, but which of the two is Wilfried Zaha believed to be replacing next summer..?
Crystal Palace are used to churning out superstars over the years, take Ian Wright for example, and now Zaha, 19, is believed to be heading for the same fame as an Arsenal player sooner than we expect.
Top sources have it that the dazzling winger will step in as Walcott’s successor to fill the £75,000-a-week hole on the right side of attack, albeit at a significantly lower cost.
Walcott has revealed his intentions to stay at the Emirates but the board are not budging on a wage increase; expect a deal to happen by April.
Speaking of young talent, Jack Wilshere and Emmanuel Frimpong will again play behind closed doors this week as part of their rehabilitation to the first team whilst the international break rolls by.
Reserve team manager Terry Burton has confirmed the strategy: “We’ll try and fix them another game. We hope it will be another game towards Jack’s recovery.”
Meanwhile Bacary Sagna, also recovering from long-term injury, has expressed his joy at edging closer to the senior side after his broken leg nightmare: “It is amazing to be back, I have been waiting for this moment for five months. This was my target: to come back and play, firstly for the under-21 team. Everything went well and we won, so I am very happy.”
Some transfer gossip now, goalkeeper Vito Mannone could be on the move back to Italy as a flurry of Serie A clubs have shown interest in the shot stopper after his recent performances in an Arsenal jersey.
The 24-year-old has deputised well for the absent Wojciech Szczesny but has proven his stuff between the sticks against quality opposition.
In a stark turn of events, a Barcelona player is actually outing for the Gunners, the Daily Star pick reports that former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez feels Pep Guardiola. Marquez will soon be heading to the Premiership and should be the next Arsenal boos.
In other news, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he wants to earn at least 100 caps for England and become a national hero, which should well be within reach if the attacking midfielder keeps a level head and learns from his mentors.
