It seems the most exciting attacking options can be found in La Liga these days, so rather than pillage the French league for recruits senor Wenger will cave into to the rules of convention and try his luck to Spain, Fernando Llorente is on his menu.

Yesterday we reported on the possibility of Wenger bringing in Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace, as either backup to the current front line or as a swap deal for you-know-who.

It seems as though Wenger, being the sly fox that he is, has asked to be kept abreast of the form and wellbeing of Athletico Bilbao’s striker Fernando Llorente, should he consider to spend in next year’s transfer window.

Llorente is not expected to sign a new contract in the summer and could leave for nothing and knowing that Arsene loves a cheap continental raid, is only natural that the back pages are already making this a done deal.

The Spanish newspaper Marca, first to brake news of Fabregas’ imminent departure from the Emirates and Cazorla’s arrival, are claiming that Arsene Wenger has asked to be kept in touch with any developments of the 27-year-old.

If the rumours turn out to be true, the only question that remains is whether Llorente will replace Olivier Giroud or contend with him for the main striking role.

Although offering encouragement and emphasising with Giroud’s difficulty to get to grips with Premiership football, the Frenchman knows he will have to buck up his ideas soon if he wants to make the lone striking role his own and deter a probable exit.
