Arsene Wenger is reported to be interested in Lars Bender

Arsenal FC transfer news provides some relief to the Gunners fans, who think that Arsene Wenger has not been active in signing players during the January transfer window. With major premier league clubs initiating the buying process, Arsenal FC has not yet made a single purchase till now, but Wenger seems to be gearing for action.

The Gunners have been made aware of the availability of Lars Bender, one of the emerging talents from Germany. The versatile player, however, has a buyout clause, which makes him worth £12.2 million. Bender is reported to play at various positions, though he is most efficient while playing in the midfield region.

Wenger is reported to be a fan of the German talent, which might push him to fulfill the terms of the buyout clause. Reports about the Gunners preparing a bid for Mainz forward Adam Szalai have also surfaced after Arsenal FC received the confirmation of David Villa’s unavailability in the January window through the comments of the Barcelona president Sandro Rossell.

Mainz manager, Christian Heidel, however, denied any apparent interest in his striker, but stated that the club would sell if they receive a serious bid. Heidel said, “There is definitely no interest. For no amount of money would we sell him now. If someone came to us with £16 million, then we will see.”

Theo Walcott is reported to sign a £25 million contract with the Gunners extending his stay at the Emirates side for five more years. The deal will result in a pay of £88,000-per-week, which is near the £100,000-per-week expectation of the player. Walcott is reported to receive a £3 million signing-on bonus in addition to the contract fee.
