Arsenal transfer news: Arsene Wenger is looking to shop for midfielders
With Arsene Wenger confident about the signing of a new deal with Theo Walcott, the transfer news for Arsenal FC suggest an abundance of English talent at the Emirates side. The Gunners are looking at their first signing of the January transfer window as Wenger has revived his interest in the Rennes midfielder, Yann M’Vila.
The 22-year-old seems to be out-of-favours at the French flub as he has been benched during the crucial stages of the championship and also suffered abuse by his own fans. Rennes is reported to be open to offers around £12 million, a price-tag that Wenger will be able to pay to increase the strength in the mid-field of the Emirates side.
With the January transfer window opening, Arsenal FC has also set its sights on young Ghana talent Afriyie Acquah. The Gunners are reported to offer £7.3 million for acquiring the midfielder, who is on loan at Palermo. The 20-year-old might be the right fit for the Emirates side and with Wenger looking to eradicate mid-field woes, the player could be a value addition.
The midfielder, however, would not be available for immediate deployment as he is on national duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. Arsenal FC are set to face Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in their next league games, which means that Wenger needs an immediate fix for the situation.
Arsenal FC also suffered a setback in their attempts to sign Schalke’s talented Lewis Holtby as Tottenham are reported to be close to signing the midfielder. Liverpool FC has also been monitoring the German international, but Hotspurs seem to have taken the lead.

mr wenger u av been an acheiver for past 16years, am not doubting your experiences and industriousness to lift arsenal to where it is today, but you need a powerful defensive midfielder and two strong defenders who can shoulder our defence because we look deficient, then we are good to win any trophies, the fans are waiting!
