Arsenal transfer news and rumours: Victor Wanyama, Yoann Gourcuff, Luka Modric
Arsenal FC’s loss to Chelsea FC has heated up the transfer news reports for the Gunners as Arsene Wenger aspires to feature in the top four teams of the Premier League, which might be difficult after yesterday’s result. The Emirates side has been linked to Celtic midfielder, Victor Wanyama, who also attracted the interest of Manchester United FC.
Wanyama has not accepted any offers of renewal from his current team leading to further speculations of the transfer. The Scottish Premier League side is keen on retaining the defensive midfielder, but his actions have renewed rumours about the uncertainty of his future at Celtic. Arsenal FC was first linked to the Kenyan player in July, 2012 when the Gunners’ scouts watched the player in action against a match against Norwich City.
Arsenal FC might be in for another midfielder as reports about a loan transfer of Lyon midfielder, Yoann Gourcuff emerge. The club has offered the French international to the Gunners at a salary of £80,000-a-week. Arsene Wenger is reported to be an admirer of the player, despite his not-so-good form in the current season.
Gourcuff’s agent, Didier Poulmaire is reported to meet Arsenal FC officials to start the talks of a possible loan transfer. The French player was also linked to Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window. Arsenal FC is reportedly planning to swoop Montpellier defender, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, though some reports hint that Wenger’s interest has cooled down in the player.
Transfer reports suggest that the Gunners are monitoring Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, who has had a difficult six months at the Spanish club. Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspurs are also linked to the Croatian footballer.
