Arsene Wenger declares high hopes, says Arsenal can still finish in top two

Arsene Wenger statement

Arsene Wenger believes that Arsenal can finish second in the league

Arsene Wenger expressed that Arsenal FC could finish second on the Premier League table, which some might consider as an improbable happening, but surprises can happen, like Milan beating Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League. Arsenal FC have not been in their prime form this season and are currently placed fifth on the table.

The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League encounter and were forced out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, but Wenger firmly believes that the Emirates side can make it to the top two of the Premier League. (Wishful Thinking!)

Arsenal FC are placed behind United, City, Chelsea and Tottenham on the Premier League table. Wenger sated that, “Chelsea are just ahead and even Manchester City is not out of reach. It could be a tight fight until the end. I’m not sure it will only be a fight with Tottenham. I’m not sure the other places are not reachable.”

The Gunners defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in their last encounter, which might have given Wenger some hope. Tottenham face West Ham on Monday and a victory will put them two points ahead of the third-placed Chelsea FC. The Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City FC and Benitez stated that a second place for the Stamford Bridge side might be out of question if they lose at the Etihad stadium.

Arsene Wenger has come under a lot of criticism from various avenues and Gunners’ fans after his side’s dismal performance. Arsenal FC has never finished out of the top four since Wenger took charge in 1996. Do you think Arsenal can feature in the top two?
