Chelsea FC latest team news, premiership transfer rumours
Ashley Cole’s Chelsea career is the story du jour with all major sources singing from the same song-sheet, the back pages have Cole as a likely departure at the end of the season after news broke that the full-back is refusing to sign a new contract at the club.
Apparently Cole has made his mind up not to sign the one-year extension on offer and instead is seeking for a fresh start away from Stamford Bridge, his most likely destinations include Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, to the delight of former boos Jose Mourinho.
In a bizarre turn of events Cole has been reinstated into the senior England team for this week’s clash against Poland, no doubt the French and Spanish titans will be monitoring his wellbeing.
Chelsea’s warlord Abramovich has introduced a new policy for players over the age of 30, affecting the likes of Cole and fellow teammate Frank Lampard, who is also out of contract next summer.
The same one-year contract offer was presented to Didier Drogba who decided to head for China during last summer’s transfer window, but the question remains if Cole will go the same way and try his luck elsewhere.
Over to international news and Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand are set to miss England’s World Cup qualification match against Poland this due to injury and illness respectively, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
The Chelsea pair Lampard did not travel for Friday’s thrashing of San Marino at Wembley, with the midfield talisman struggling to shake off a calf injury and the left full-back out with a minor ailment.
