Chelsea FC transfer rumours are stirring before the dust has settled on Rafa Benitez’s defeat yesterday at the hand of Corinthians in the Club World Cup, today the West London outfit is linked with Roma ace Miralem Pjanic.
Touted as the next Frank Lampard, Pjanic is enjoying a prolific spell at Serie A side Roma, having been given the once over by scouts his estimated transfer fee is said to be in the region of £12m.
Rafa Benitez knows he must move fast if he is to replace leading figure Lampard currently out of contract in the summer, the gossip columns are calling this a toss up between Chelsea and PSG as to which club Pjanic chooses to join.
On the field, Chelsea lost their latest battle to Corinthians of Brazil in the Club World Cup final in Japan, after Paolo Guerrero netted a second-half header to secure a 1-0 win.
Guerrero struck home on 69 minutes to claim bragging rights as the world’s greatest club side this term dealing a blow to Rafa Benitez who was on the hunt for his first trophy as Chelsea boss.
No player was more disappointed than midfielder Oscar, one of several Brazilians at Chelsea playing against the team from his native country: “I didn’t think we lacked effort, this happens.”
”He went on to tell news source Rede Globo “Chelsea wanted this title so much, we have been training a lot in London for this competition. But defeat happens. Corinthians played well and deserved to win.”
“It was a good game, we just didn’t create as much as usual, Cassio made some great saves and Corinthians scored when they had the chance.”

Lampard is tired.He did a lot for chelsea.Now he need to rest.I don't understand when a player is off the pitch (in the game) but the coach is not making substitution.The defeat was deserved and Benitez is the man to blame by holding Lampard up to 90 minutes.

Benitez is a confused man he made a very big mistake by starting tired man like lampard he use to good but not with club like Corinthians , well he has good players like oscar nd mikeal at the middle of the field but he chose the wrong people nd he pays dearly for it , i do hope he will learn from that.

My question is this, why on earth did he not use the same squad that beat Monterrey 3-1.Rafa deserves all the blame.As a coach once you play any of your players in the first 45mins of the game, you should be able to know who to remove and who to introduce into the game for a better change.But he didn't do that until everything went bizarre.Another point that I think should be looked into is this issue of putting John Obi Mikel on the bench on important matches.Every coach that have done that in the past ended up loosing the game.Mikel plays an outstanding role in the defensive midfield and I believe that midfield have been built around him.Each time that young man has been substituted in the quest of looking for goals, Chelsea ended up loosing that game.It happened against Man city last season, against Juventus which one will I mention.Finally I think Rafa is not the guy we are looking for.He knows too well that Moses is better of when he plays from the left side, but he played him from the right flank, when he finally swapped position with Hazzard we saw a little different.Please to be fore warned is to be fore armed.
