Chelsea FC latest football news and transfer rumours
Chelsea and England fans have been informed today that skipper John Terry has stepped down from international football after the tail end of a frustrating legal saga, although he may not be the only Blues veteran to be considering his long-term future as teammate Frank Lampard may also be calling time on his career.
The transfer rumours and speculation began when Lampard’s agent was spotted in the crowd as Los Angeles Galaxy entertained Toronto on Saturday evening.
Steve Kutner is said to have attended the MLS game in preparation for a January deal involving England star Lampard joing up with former international teammate David Beckham
The weekend papers claim that 34-year-old Beckham, who was sidelined through injury at the weekend, is attempting to coax Lampard to move stateside in the final stages of his playing career.
A Galaxy insider commented: “We want the best players from around the world and Frank is top of our list. Getting Frank would send a message around the world that the MLS is serious.”
Meanwhile at the Bridge, Di Matteo has dusted off suggestions that has been left sweating over Ashely Cole’s unresolved contract negotiations and is sure that the defender will sign soon.
“I’m very optimistic that it will be dealt with before that,” Di Matteo said after watching Cole net a vital late winner in the 1-0 win against Stoke yesterday.
