Arsenal FC, latest Premier League transfer news, Sep 26
Yesterday we reported the latest news on the Theo Walcott transfer saga, which is beginning to read like a poorly-scripted soap opera fued, and that his potential replacement may be shipped in from Spain, but who’s the defender that’s caught Arsene Wenger’s eye..?
Arsenal are said to be closely monitoring Montpillier centre half Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa who was in action against the Gunners in last week’s Champions League match.
Wenger always prefers to shop in Ligue 1, and wants to continue unearthing future talent by bringing in the stopper to support a defensive line which is susceptible to yellow and red cards.
If the Arsenal chief is serious about making a reasonable offer, he best do so quickly as you-know-who are also chasing Yanga-Mbiwa’s signature, that’s right Barcelona want to cut out the middle man this time round and beat Arsenal to the bid.
According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona scouts were in attendance last week to watch Yanga-Mbiwa up close, it is heavily suggested by insiders that the French international may become a tug-of-war commodity between the two Premier League and La Liga sides.
Sources claim Barcelona would present a juicer contract offer, and it would not be the first time that Arsene Wenger has lost out on a player to the La Liga side, following the direct departures of former Gunners Alex Hleb, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song.
