Three big stories to report this morning, including one secure signing, one possible exit, and an oldie that keeps resurfacing in the papers so let’s begin with Brendan Rodgers’ third signing of the summer, Assaidi, 24, who flew in yesterday for a medical.

Liverpool announced the deal on their official website, in a matter of hours after after Rodgers claimed further signings were heading to Anfield.

Assaidi scored 10 Eredivisie goals from midfield last season, he is the replacement for Maxi Rodriguez, who has decided to call time on his Liverpool career and head home to Argentina, according to Eurosport journalists.

The Daily Mail is particularly fond of Manchester City’s interest in Daniel Agger, so much so that it has dedicated a fresh piece this morning detailing the potential move, who may be replaced with one of two Tottenham defenders, Steven Caulker or Michael Dawson.

The paper also comments that Barcelona hold a keen interested in the Dane too, and although Agger is said to have no immediate desire to leave Merseyside, the lure of playing tika-taka in Spain could prove too much.

While in Spain, Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin is getting cold feet at the prospect at joining the Reds, owing to a last-minute attempt from Arsenal to hijack Liverpool’s move as they contemplate selling Alex Song.

Sahin was said to have a greed a season-long loan at Anfield but due to uncertain circumstances over Arsenal’s midfield, Wenger has asked him to wait until Monday before making a concrete decision, to which he has agreed.

Sahin’s deliberation points to the fact he may be swayed by the lur of Champions League football this season, rather than a spot in the Eurpoa Cup.
