Manchester United latest transfer news, rumours and gossip
A fine display of attacking prowess from Manchester United at the weekend was enough to put four past Wigan but the papers today question whether such riveting form will last, pushing through speculation that Alex Ferguson will spend again in the January transfer window.
Fergie will be keeping tabs on the Everton v Newcastle Premier League clash tonight in the hope that Everton’s unsettled attacker Marouane Fellaini lives up to the recent hype attributed to him by the media.
Sir Alex Ferguson is particularly fond of the imposing midfielder after seeing the 24-year-old knock out a string of impressive performances, most notably his one-man-demolition routine against United last month.
Despite transfer interest from Manchester United Everton boss David Moyes has publicly stated the star man is not for sale.
But Moyes said: “I have got no problem if other clubs start circling for my players. None at all.
“What I do know is that they can’t come in and take any of my players until January and we are only in September.
“Whatever happens now, whatever Fellaini says, he is here for at least the next four months.
In other news Alex Ferguson has praised the performance of starlet Nick Powell, 18, who he believes will be a long-term replacement for the aging midfielder Paul Scholes.
Powell, secured from Crewe Alexander, will hope to enforce his presence in the same manner as past teenage acquisitions Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.
