Liverpool FC latest transfer news and rumours, Sep 13

You’ll never walk alone

Mixed emotions will grip Liverpool this morning following David Cameron’s announcement on the Hillsborough disaster, fans deservedly received a public apology, albeit long overdue, but will have been saddened by the resurfacing of the events of the tragic incident, many years ago.

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is the talk of today’s transfer activity, Daily Mail and high profile Spanish newspapers claim he may be heading out the Anfield door, despite his agent’s plea.

The Spaniard has made the no.1 spot his own since joining the Merseysdie club in 2005 but a dip in form has raised questions over his commitment to remain a Liverpool player come January when the winter transfer window opens.

Boss Brendan Rodgers will not be short of options if he is forced to bring in a replacement this season, having several key names on his list.

As former Swansea boss he witnessed first-hand the magnitude of talent Michel Vorm displayed between the sticks and for his national side Holland, which will be comforting to Kop fans who relish raw talent.

Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has thrown cold water on such transfer gossip claiming his client Reina is only focusing on returning to form.

‘There is no problem right now,’ he told Calciomercato. ‘Pepe has played many games in the Liverpool shirt and is used to all kinds of rumours.

It is clear he is not having an easy time because the team has not started the season well and liability is falling on him.
