Liverpool FC Latest Transfer News & Rumours: Suarez no sale
Striker crisis, what striker crisis? Liverpool FC transfers run thick and fast through today’s back pages as if Saturday’s 3-0 thumping of Wigan never took place, but its good news for hero goal scorer Luis Suarez and the gang.
In the Telegraph’s transfer gossip column chairman Tom Werner was quoted as saying Suarez, who scored a brace on the weekend, will ‘absolutely not’ be sold, in a bid to throw Manchester City off the Uruguayan’s scent.
“He’s a beautiful player to watch and, as a Liverpool fan, I hope I’m watching him for many years to come. We made a long-term contract with him in the summer and we are going to see a lot of his play at Liverpool.”
After having reassured Liverpool fans of his intentions to strive for a European spot this season boos Brendan Rodgers has also been talking up further transfer activity to give Suarez a helping hand up front.
As reported in Metro’s football news Rodgers is contemplating bidding for Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi in the Jnauary transfer window.
Metro informs that the former Manchester United striker would come cheap due to being sidelined until March 2013 with a knee ligament injury, which would see him come in as a long-term investment rather than an impact signing.
”The reality is that there was always going to be a bit of movement this season with the club trying to regain some of their money. This season was always going to be difficult, stated Rodgers.”
‘We’ll look to do something in the January transfer window, though. There’s not going to be wholesale changes in terms of players coming in, that’s the reality of where the club is at.
The transfer merry-go-round doesn’t stop there, if the Mirror’s football transfer experts are to be believed, which have Rodgers sighting an old ally to help stiffen his wavering defence.
The newspaper is reporting Rodgers will raid former club Reading for defender Alex Pearce, a player who earned his stripes at Madejski Stadium under Rodgers’ reign.
Pearce, 24, is a Republic of Ireland international who has also represented Scotland under 21.
