Liverpool FC latest team news and transfer rumours
We kick off today with a helping of positive news from the Anfield side, one of Brendan Rodgers’ key defenders Daniel Agger has agreed to put pen to paper and remain a Liverpool player for years to come, to the delight of the Kop.
Denmark international Agger, 27, has stated he is proud to commit his future to Liverpool and is backing boss Brendan Rodgers to catapult the Merseyside team back into a title challenging position with his attractive style of play.
Despite worries from Liverpool fans over the summer that their star central defender would be picked up by Roberto Mancini’s sky blue outfit, the Anfield side stuck to its guns and refused to admit he was going anywhere, Agger repaid such trust by having a club tattoo on his hand.
“I’m proud to be here, and I think my knuckles show that. I’d thought about it for a long time,” Agger told reporters. “As I said, I feel a part of this club and I feel a part of this city. I’ve been here so long now, so it was an easy decision.”
Luis Suarez is never far from the football back pages, today several high profile sources are discussing his continuous criticism over diving, referring most recently to Liverpool’s nil-nil draw with Stoke on the weekend.
The Uruguay striker, who was said to have fell easily in the box during the Stoke game admits he is not fazed by the label and is concentrating on his game only.
“Any manager can say what he wants about me but it doesn’t affect me,” said Suarez. “I am not worried about what they say. Let them carry on talking. In the meantime I will continue to play football and to concern myself with my team and with what I do. Nothing else matters.”
