Liverpool FC latest news and transfer rumours
Brendan Rodgers will breathe a heavy sign of relief this morning as his Liverpool side sit in a more familiar position in the Barclays Premier League table, due to a seminal 5-2 win over Norwich at the weekend.
Main front man Luis Suarez, formally criticised by pundits for his shots-to-goals ration weighed in with a first-class hat trick, setting aside any doubts that he is the perfect striker to spearhead the Anfield side’s attacking play.
Suarez now sits in joint second position in the top scorers table on 5 five goals, along with Fletcher of Sunderland and Van Persie of rivals Man United, all three strikers just one notch behind Newcastle’s prolific Senegalese goal machine Demba Ba.
Transfer news now and the Mirror and TalkSport are gossiping about Theo Walcott once again, this week it is suggested that the out-of-favour Arsenal wide man in on Liverpool and Man City’s radar.
The media sources claim that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s reluctance to play Walcott as a lead striker is holding up new contract talks, however it is rumoured that he would be welcomed in at the Etihad and Anfield in his favoured central role.
Rodgers wants to recruit Walcott to partner up with in-form Suarez, adding the final piece to his Anfield set-up, which could come to fruition as soon as January.
The Man City team is already top-heavy but that will not put off boss Mancini from making a bid, if the inevitable happens and Liverpool fail to turn Walcott’s head, Rodgers will settle for hot shot Demba Ba.
Andy Carroll, currently out on loan to West Ham will be called back to Anfield and delivered to Newcastle on a permanent deal as bait for Ba.
