Liverpool transfer news and rumours: Manuel Iturra, Eriksen, Downing
Liverpool FC transfer news suggest that the Reds are hatching a plan to make a move for Malaga midfielder, Manuel Iturra at the end of the season. The Chilean player will become a free agent at the end of the season as his contract is set to expire in June. The 28-year-old has rejected all the offers made by the Spanish club for the renewal of his contract.
The Reds have been put on alert as Ajax midfielder, Christian Eriksen has denied signing a new contract with the Dutch side. Eriksen has been on the radar of many premier league clubs with Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC leading the race to sign the player for a possible summer move.
Eriksen’s contract with Ajax is reported to end in 2014. His agent, Martin Schoots confirmed the player’s decision of not renewing his contract. Informing about the refusal of the midfielder to sign a new contract, Ajax technical director, Marc Overmars said, “Christian has informed us that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract right now.”
Liverpool FC winger, Stewart Downing has expressed his concerns over his long-term future at the Anfield side. The player was earlier informed by manger, Brendan Rodgers that he could leave the club. The winger has not been in prime form in his recent forays, which might have led to the uncertainty over his future at Liverpool FC.
Talking about the possibility of being retained by Rodgers during the summer transfer window, Downing said, “If I keep playing well, he can’t leave me out. That’s how I see it at the minute. Every time I play is a chance to prove him wrong but if you don’t perform, he will be disappointed and you won’t play.”
