Manchester United target Cristiano Ronaldo moving to PSG?
Rumours about the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United FC have gained momentum in the past few days, but former goalkeeper of Real Madrid, Santiago Canizares, believes that the Portuguese striker might join Paris Saint Germain instead of the Old Trafford side. Ronaldo has been on the radar of Man U during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils would be hoping that Cristiano Ronaldo and the Bernabeu side do not reach an agreement over a new contract, which seems likely, as the striker is reportedly frustrated with his condition at the Spanish club. However, Santiago’s statement creates doubts about the transfer of Ronaldo to Manchester United FC.
Talking about the status quo of the striker Santiago said, “It is very hard to lose against Barca all the time. Around the world, we talk about Messi and then Ronaldo. He wants to be better than Messi but he cannot. If he leaves Madrid, it may be a possibility for him to change country and play in a league he does not know. He has already played and won titles in England, and I do not think he will go back to go to Manchester City or Chelsea.”
Santiago added, “In Italy there is a restriction on wages so he won’t go there. In Germany, there is Bayern, but they are not a club who bet heavily on stars, they have a different mentality. There are not many teams to turn to and it is clear that that Paris Saint-Germain are the great rival to Real Madrid on this issue.”
Man U is reportedly preparing to offer £55 million in cash and also include the transfer of either Javier Hernandez or Nani into the bargain for the striker. Cristiano Ronaldo stated earlier that Real Madrid was using him only as a cash cow. The striker’s current contract includes a clause, which allows Real to collect 40% of the player’s individual personal endorsements.
Manchester United FC are reportedly favourites to sign Cristiano Ronaldo during the summer transfer window ahead of Manchester City and PSG. What do you think?
