Manchester City latest transfer news and rumours, Aug 27
Although it might be too early to say that, but it looks like Manchester City will not be able to relay their success of last season. City’s unconvincing performance against Liverpool, especially in attack is a warning sign for Roberto Mancini. The Italian seriously need to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes on Friday.
It’s already evident that Mancini is not happy with the squad and he believes that City’s transfer activity over the next five days will shape their defence of the Premier League title. City is inching closer to sign Scott Sinclair, the Swansea City winger, but Mancini still feels the need for further additions.
“We need to bring players in and we have five days in which to do it. We have to work very hard in these four or five days. It will be a long week for us,” said Mancini after City escaped with a fortunate draw at Liverpool.
Roberto Mancini has although denied that Liverpool’s Daniel Agger was one of his club’s transfer targets, but there is usually no smoke without fire. “Yes. We have our targets and we will go for them in the next five days. How many? Ten, 15? [Daniel] Agger was never our target. Sinclair, maybe. We have five days,” said Mancini.
Rumours that Mancini was planning to sell Carlos Tevez fever-pitched recently, but after Tevez score in the 80th minute at Anfield on Sunday saved Manchester City from a humiliating defeat to Liverpool, these rumours are going to die out.
“Carlos is in good form at this moment. I am happy for him,” Roberto Mancini said. “It is important he continues to play like he did in these two games.”
Mancini has also rubbished the rumours about selling James Milner, saying “No – I think all the players played well but when you are down you should try something different but all the players played well.”

Not going to lie mate, but saying that we're not going to be as successful after two games is just quite pathetic. We haven't won at anfield for 9 years, so getting a point was a good result for us. We drew against them last year and won the title. So cut the bullshit and find some news actually worth talking about.
