Manchester United latest team news & transfer rumours
The transfer news of Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United unveils the Crystal Palace star will be making the transition in July, leaving Ian Holloway plenty of time to recruit a replacement for the Premiership contending side.
Sir Alex Ferguson already has a bulging squad and due to a backlog of exit transfers that must be finalised the Manchester United boss has agreed to hold off until the summer before he will ship out several big names in order to accommodate new signing Zaha.
Zaha said of his move: “I am delighted to be joining Manchester United and ending the recent speculation.
“I have been at Palace for more than ten years, I will always love the club and I want to help get them back to the Premier League, particularly for the fans who have always been so good to me.”
The transfer of Zaha to United is further proof that the Premiership outfit is dedicated to building a spine of English youth players, regardless of the cost involved.
Ferguson commented: “We can also develop players well here. That’s proved to be the case many times… Hopefully the boy will enjoy it coming here when he eventually does join us in the summer.”
A cold week for Manchester United midfielde veteran Paul Scholes this week as it was reported earlier that thieves stole his £30,000 SUV from the front of his house.
Scholes has been defrosting the Chevrolet Captiva LTZ estate vehicle on his property in Oldham and left the car unattended for a matter of minutes but when he returned from his house he was left staring at an empty driveway.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating after a car was stolen while the owner was defrosting the vehicle. The grey Chevrolet estate was stolen from the drive of a house in the Greenfield area of Oldham between 7.45am and 8am on Monday. Inquiries to locate the car are ongoing.”
