There’s a general consensus today among the big media players that the incompetence of the English national side is deserving of the back pages, but fear not, Manchester United are in the news too, and it’s transfer talk yet again for Fergie.

First off, Sir Alex has travelled north for his first early Christmas present, Celtic’s Victor Wanyama is top of the wish list, despite the SPL side making an improved contract offer for the 21-year-old Kenyan.

Sir Alex will have showdown talks with winger Nani in the coming weeks to negotiate a better deal for the Portugal international or face seeing him leave for a sunnier climate, the less-than-happy tricky attacker is considering moving abroad.

Juventus are first in the queue should Nani, 25, force a move away from Manchester United, with the Premiership side hanging a £10m for sale sign above his head.
