Manchester United transfer news: Steven Defour, Julian Draxler, Asmir Begovic
Manchester United FC transfer news suggest that the Red Devils have renewed their interest in midfielder, Steven Defour, who was linked to the Old Trafford side earlier, but could not make a move due to an injury. The Belgian international recovered from the injury and secured a move to FC Porto and has once again appeared on the radar of Man U.
Sir Alex has reportedly sent scouts to monitor the 24-year-old and they have come back with impressive reports reigniting the interest of the Old Trafford side. Reports suggest that Ferguson might be looking at Defour as a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes. The midfielder might be interested in a move to Old Trafford while fondly recalling the letter from Sir Alex praising his performance.
With Man U reportedly looking to ship-off at least four players at the end of the summer, Defour could be a good entry in the Red Devils line-up. Schalke are apparently confident of holding on to midfielder, Julian Draxler, despite Manchester United FC looking to sign the player. The German international has also drawn interest from Chelsea FC.
Draxler has been a force to reckon with as he was instrumental in positioning Schalke in the last 16 of the Champions League. Talking about retaining Draxler, Schalke’s general manager, Horst Heldt said, “Julian Draxler is under contract at our club and he is an important player. We want to keep him at our club for as long as possible.”
Stoke City are looking for an initial bid of £15 million for goalkeeper Asmir Begovic so that the signing price might reach £20 million. Manchester United FC is reportedly set to sell Anders Lindegaard and with Sir Alex not happy with certain aspects of De Gea’s stopping, the Red Devils are a strong contender for signing Begovic.
