Manchester United transfer news: Wayne Rooney, Ezequiel Garay, Jeffrey Schlupp

Wayne Rooney transfer

Wayne Rooney was dropped from the side against Madrid starting rumours about his transfer

Manchester United FC transfer news reports are brewing stories about Wayne Rooney’s exit from the Old Trafford side after Sir Alex decided to bench him against Real Madrid in a Champions League encounter. The reason for leaving out Rooney against Real is stated to be a tactical strategy as Sir Alex expressed before the game that Danny Welbeck was the best at tracking back in Man U.

The speculations about the exit of the English forward started moments after he was left on the bench. Many former players stated that the Rooney’s time was up at Old Trafford and his omission from the team replicates the departures of Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham, who were both left out of big games before being sold to Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly interested in acquiring Wayne Rooney. Former player, Paul McGrath, who won the FA Cup with United in 1985, said, “It’s a strange one for me, I think Wayne’s future is up in the air at the moment.” Another former Manchester United FC player, Roy Keane stated, “It surprised us all that Sir Alex left Wayne Rooney out. Maybe the writing is on the wall for him.”

Sir Alex has sent his brother Martin to scout Benfica defender, Ezequiel Garay, as the Red Devils continue to track his progress. Man U is reported to plan a move for the Argentine player during the summer transfer window. Benfica are leading the Primeira Liga and have been undefeated this season, courtesy to their defence, which has conceded 14 goals in 21 league games.

Manchester United FC are reportedly planning for talks with Leicester City about a permanent deal for Jeffrey Schlupp. Schlupp has been training with United since January and is believed to have impressed manager Sir Alex Ferguson and members of the club’s coaching staff.
