David De Gea: Time to return home to Madrid? (Image: 3oheme)

Unhappy times for David De Gea, the rumour mill has it that Manchester United’s goalkeeper is fed up of life at Old Trafford and is prepared to move away to further his career, Real Madrid is his likely destination.

The Daily Telegraph is leading the charge on this transfer story weighing up his current suitors who have goalkeepers nearing the 30-year mark, the conclusion is that Real Madrid will bring him in as a long-term replacement for Iker Cassilas.

De Gea’s stint at United has been less than triumphant following a tough start to adjust to the Premier League, this season alone he has played four games and produced 15 saves with just one clean sheet, but Joe Mourinho wants him to return to Madrid.

De Gea’s decision to move may be sealed by his Spanish pop star girlfriend who currently splits her time between England and Spain, as he is rumoured to have informed his agent, Jorge Mendes, of his wish to return home.

Real Madrid will not be put off by a valuation that reaches double figures if they are certain about luring De Gea to the Bernabeu, although it’s possible that Mourinho will put in an initial bid below £18m, the fee Manchester United paid to De Gea’s former club Atletico.
