Manchester United Latest News & Transfer Rumours: Cristiano Ronaldo
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times for QPR fans at the weekend going a goal up against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men then conceding three but looking to a new beginning with Harry Redknapp at the helm, while United grow stronger and stronger.
The strength of Manchester United is usually defined by their most talented player, the title once held by Cristiano Ronaldo, whom many of the back pages claim is still the main interest of Sir Alex Ferguson.
If the Manchester United transfer rumours are believed to be true Fergie has been in touch with his former employee, the world’s most expensive player, to soften him up for a move back to the Premiership in the near future.
The pair recently met last Wednesday ahead of the Real Madrid vs Manchester City tie, with Jose Mourinho present, a scenario which suggests the La Liga boss wanted to keep the meeting purely personal despite any intentions from Fergie to talk shop.
Ronaldo said: “I met Alex Ferguson on Wednesday. He came to the hotel to speak with Jose Mourinho and, of course, I spoke with him too. It was nice to see him again.
“No, we didn’t speak about the future. We just spoke about his moment with Manchester United and mine with Real Madrid. We were just happy to see each other.”
Even though Ronaldo played it safe by throwing cold water on such transfer rumours Fergie was at his old tricks again by publicly stating his interest in the Real Madrid forward, admitted he would love to re-sign Ronaldo.
Sir Alex said: “There’s every chance that Ronaldo might leave Real, you never know.
“I would like to think that he could return to Old Trafford but I don’t think it will happen. You would be talking about incredible amounts of money.”
Ronaldo, 27, left United for the Bernabeu in 2009 as football’s highest transfer ever at 80 million Euros.
