Chelsea v Wigan, Sunderland v Arsenal Match Predictions & Odds
Match Preview and Betting Predicitons: Chelsea v Wigan
After the midweek international friendlies, we are now back to the domestic leagues which generally come as a relief to many punters as these games are arguably ‘safer’ to bet on. For Saturday’s betting tips, we will focus on two Premier League match predictions.
Let’s kick off with the match between Chelsea and Wigan. Despite Chelsea’s recent dip in form, the punters will be no doubt lumping their money on a home win based on Wigan’s poor away form, not to mention the apparent difference in quality of the two sides. Chelsea tend to start the game brightly and tenaciously, and have taken the lead in most of their home games this season. In Chelsea’s twelve home games, they have won six at half time.
Wigan’s away form is a different story. They struggle to settle in away matches and in their twelve games they have managed just one goal before half time. They rarely go on to pick up any points in their matches and have lost seven of those twelve away games this season. With this in mind and Chelsea generally starting their games on a high note it’s a no-brainer to back Chelsea to win at half time and full time, paying around the 10/11 mark. Although Chelsea have had recent defensive issues the attacking quality of Chelsea will be too much for Wigan to handle and there could a be few goals in this game for the home side.
Match Preview and Betting Predicitons: Sunderland v Arsenal
The second game we are focusing on this weekend is Sunderland v Arsenal. Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland have had a surge of form lifting them to 12th in the league after many pundits and fans were claiming they were relegation candidates just over a month ago. The Mackem’s have the ability to score goals with the attacking prowess of Steven Fletcher, Adam Johnson and Stephane Sessegnon, and Sunderland rarely fail to score at home. New signing Danny Graham adds more fire power to the front line and may feature at some point.
Arsenal have returned to the quick, direct passing style of football which Arsene Wenger so dearly adores. They look dangerous in attack but they have not been able to dominate matches, only periods of the game, however they look threatening when they do come forward. For this game, I think the facts and form bode well for the game to have over 2.5 goals, paying around the 5/6 mark.
Arsenal are vulnerable defensively and have conceded in their last 7 out of 8 away games and their last 3 away have seen at least 3 goals. Sunderland, with the home advantage can exploit Arsenal’s inability to keep clean sheets however, with players such as Theo Walcott, Carzola and new England babe Jack Wilshire; Arsenal are capable of getting on the score sheet in any game.
Chelsea v Wigan Betting Prediciton: Chelsea HT/FT at 10/11
Sunderland v Arsenal Betting Prediction: Over 2.5 goals at 5/6
