Tottenham Hotspur has finally won the race to sign the sought after Belgian international Moussa Dembele from Fulham before the transfer window closes on Friday.

The transfer deal between Spurs and Fulham has been reportedly confirmed for the fee of around £15 million pounds. Tottenham, which last year failed to sign Dembele with a £10m bid, signed him after Dembele passed a physical and agreed to a five-year contract.

Delighted on signing the Tottenham, the 25-year-old Belgium international tweeted, “Happy to confirm I signed a new contract with Tottenham FC! I would like to thank all the Fulham fans for their support! You were amazing.”

Spur’s strained midfield after the Luka Modric left the club to join Real Madrid will be eased by Dembele’s signing. However, things haven’t yet sorted down for Tottenham Hotspur as Hamburg has vowed to do everything possible to sign Rafael Van der Vaart.

“There is not a lot of time — it is really up to Tottenham Hotspur. If we have a chance to sign him, we will do everything we can to make that happen,” proclaimed the Bundesliga side’s chairman, Carl-Edgar Jarchow.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has valued Van der Vaart, who joined Real from Hamburg and then Tottenham, at around £14 million pounds – almost double what he paid Real Madrid for the midfielder two years ago.

It seems that last 48 hours of a summer transfer window are to be hectic at White Hart Lane, as Villas-Boas is also interested in France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, Internacional striker Leandro Damiao and Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila.

Shakhtar Donetsk forward Willian is also on the list of Villas-Boas, who desperately want to fill the void left by the departure of Luka Modric.
