Gareth Bale is in ominous touch and the Tottenham Hotspurs vs Inter Milan result consolidated that fact for the world. Andre-Villas Boas now has another challenge at hand and that is to keep the striker in his present form. Bale opened the scoring for Spurs with a header in the 6th minute to the uproar of the audience. The White Hart Lane side looks good on the road to Europa League glory.

Spurs fans, however, will not see the magic of Bale at the San Siro stadium against Inter as he was booked by the referee, a decision AVB was hoping for, as he candidly admitted later. The Spurs manager stated that he would have asked Bale to get booked to stay clean for the last eight.

Talking about Bale missing the next game, Boas said, “He’s obviously a great a miss. With this result we would have asked him to get the yellow card to get clean and be ready for the last eight. We will miss Gareth because he’s been influential in consecutive games but hopefully we can make it without him and go through to the last eight.”

Adding the goal in the 6th minute, Bale’s tally moves to 14 goals in 14 games this season, and the Welshman seems to have acquired the Midas touch. Sigurdsson scored the second, off a rebound after Jermain Defoe’s shot was saved. Bale came into action again as Jan Vertonghen made it 3-0 with a header off the Welshman’s corner kick.

Inter Milan needs to score at least 4 goals and not concede one if they want to advance to the last eight, which seems highly unlikely. Spurs is gaining momentum riding on Bale’s legs, but the key would be continuing the good run and ably supporting the striker.
