Andy Murray continued his dream run in the US Open 2012 when he won the third round with a victory over Ivan Dodig.

Andy Murray’s practice sessions with Robson have benefited him and since then his performance has been increasing on a constant level. Moreover, Murray’s individual gold has developed positivity in his performance against Croatia’s Ivan Dodig with a sweeping win of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-3 in 1 hour and 51 minutes.

The clash between Murray and Dodig was a menacing one -Where Dodig loved to rush the net and face his opponent at close range, Murray was more of a strategist where he saw eye to eye with an opponent and gave an armour piercing passing shot. Dodig’s power burnt out in the first round against Murray’s mind games.

Before the first hour was up, the Croatian was breathing heavily and his hair was plastered across his forehead, while Murray looked as if he was doing a gentle warm-up.

It took Murray to adjust to the cooler and slower conditions at the ground. From then on, he was unstoppable and played gracefully against Dodig’s aggressive streak.

The game changer came in the third set when Dodig played a deep first volley which would have been a winner against most opponents. Murray was left dumbfounded against the excellent stroke play of Dodig, but he gained his momentum and conjured a forehand crosscourt pass at full stretch.

“There were a lot of long rallies because he is incredibly quick around the court and he always make you play the extra ball. But I moved my feet really well today”, quoted Andy Murray in praise of Dodig at the end of the game.

Murray’s next opponent at the US Open will be Faliciano Lopez, whom he crushed to defeat at the same ground last year.
