Stephen Bonnar was kneed by Anderson Silva in the last Saturday’s main event at the UFC 153. After the marauding win against Bonnar, Silva was being touted as a worthy opponent for the superfight match-up against Jones and Pierre.
Reflecting on the mauling from Anderson Silva, Stephen Bonnar accepted the fact that he was overshadowed in the octagon and thanked UFC for giving him the opportunity to fight against Silva, who is being speculated to be one of the top three fighters in the UFC along with Jones and Pierre.
In an interview with the MMAFighting.com, Bonnar said, “I’ve never been kneed like that. I couldn’t breathe at all. I couldn’t move. I was just crippled, waiting for my body to be able to get some air. It felt like an eternity and the ref stepped it. When I saw the fight, I was like, ‘Whoa, that was pretty quick.It felt like I was trying to breathe longer than that.”
UFC 153 Saturday fight between Anderson Silva and Bonnar might not soon be forgotten, thought the next UFC 154 fight between St-Pierre and Condit on November 17 provides hope for another great match-up.
