USADA labels Lance Armstrong a serial cheat
Lance Armstrong, USADA’s major suspect in the biggest doping scandal in the history of sports seemed unfazed by the allegations. United States Anti-Doping Agency’s (USADA) report claims that Lance Armstrong was at the helm of the most sophisticated and extensive doping scheme in professional sports history. The 202-page report provided facts that Armstrong was using performance enhancing drugs.
Lance Armstrong has been alleged to be the ring leader of five of his former team mates who confessed to using performance enhancing drugs as they were banned by USA Cycling on the basis of evidence compiled by the USADA. Lance Armstrong was banned for life after the USADA stripped him of his seven Tour de France titles.
Lance Armstrong has not challenged USADA’s accusations against him, but his spokesman, Mark Fabiani said, “That’s because the USADA investigation was a very one-sided report. The federal government spent a considerable amount of hours and manpower on its case, and if one-tenth of what USADA is saying was true, the federal government would’ve brought charges against Lance a long time ago.”
Tour de France winner, Bradley Wiggins was shocked at the amount of evidence USADA gathered against Lance Armstrong as he said, “It’s pretty damning stuff. It is jaw-dropping the amount of people who have testified against him. It’s not a one-sided hatchet job. I’m shocked at the scale of the evidence.”
With USADA praising the courage of the cyclists who testified against Lance Armstrong, the saga of the athlete who defied all odds and returned to cycling after cancer comes to a sorry end. The common people will also be saddened by the turn of events as the man they believed to be ‘hero’ turned out to be an ordinary man.
